The Teachers:

Barb and Mary

Designers (and sisters), Barbara Groves and Mary Jacobson, of “Me and My Sister Designs” have had their hands in almost every aspect of the creative crafting industry.   These sisters and one-time shop owners have expanded their love of quilting and crafting into a business that now includes designing fabrics for Moda.  In addition they developed the SideWinder portable bobbin winder and produce and design patterns and books for their company.

They have great fun taking what they like to call “Everyday Color” and infusing it into their fabrics for Moda.  Moda Fabrics has been the leader in the quilting and notion industry for the past 30 years.  The sisters have been members of the Moda family for the past six years, and have designed 18 lines of fabric. In 2009, the sisters teamed up with Wrights and Simplicity to produce one of the biggest and most exciting new sewing notions to hit the industry, the “SideWinder” portable bobbin winder.  Due to its huge success, the “Deluxe SideWinder” was introduced internationally this spring.

They have been featured in several national quilting and sewing magazines.  The most recent being Better Homes & Garden’s Quilting August 2010 issue.  There is hardly a trade magazine that does not feature fabrics, designs or advertisements for their products.

Look for more exciting things to come from these two at meandmysisterdesigns.com.

Sherri Falls

Sherri began quilting in 1994. She enjoyed trying to put patterns together in different ways and experimented with designing her own patterns. In 2000, Sherri started a machine quilting business with her mother who owns a quilt store in scenic Waconia, MN. It was at that store that she met Eileen Taylor, designer of the Holly Taylor fabric line from Moda. Eileen encouraged Sherri to try creating patterns with her fabric and This & That Pattern Company was born.

Since 2004, Sherri has designed many patterns and a book for the Holly Taylor fabric lines. In addition, Sherri has designed charm patterns and other fun patterns for jelly rolls and layer cakes under the “Little Scraps” and “Breakfast Club” lines.  Her newest designs include embroidery along with the piecing for quick and easy, take-on-the-go projects.

Sherri has been married to her husband, Paul, for 21 years. They have two girls and a boy, ages 18, 15, and 12.

Karla Eisenach

Karla Eisenach is a partner with her two daughters in the design company Sweetwater.  However, she initially started in the quilting industry in 1986 under the company name Farmyard Creations.  She has designed hundreds of quilt patterns in the past 25 years.

Sweetwater started as a scrapbook design company and  currently designs fabric for Moda.  They have created 12 collections to date which feature fresh, simple and modern designs.

They also create innovative graphic design in custom iron-on fabric labels and canvas art prints.

When not quilting, Karla loves interior design, going to flea markets and visiting her favorite design blogs.  She has lived in Colorado her entire life and is excited for her first cruise!

The Cruise:

We will begin our journey out of Ft Lauderdale, Florida on January 26, 2014 for a seven-night, roundtrip cruise through the Caribbean. When it comes to beautiful beaches and sparkling blue waters, the Caribbean is truly in a league of its own!

We will make our first stop: Labadee, Haiti. On the north coast of Hispaniola, surrounded by beautiful mountain slopes and exotic foliage, sits Labadee®, Royal Caribbean's private paradise. This exclusive destination offers pristine beaches, breathtaking scenery and spectacular water activities. We even have an amazing new Aqua Park for kids. Regardless of where you go, you'll find yourself embraced by the beautiful landscape. Labadee's native charm, along with its natural beauty, make this a destination not to be missed, and only Royal Caribbean can take you there.

Our next stop: Falmouth, Jamaica.  Quaint Falmouth was an economic powerhouse and center for dramatic social change during the English Colonial Period. In today's Falmouth, visitors still enjoy 19th-century Georgian architecture as well as river bamboo raft rides, arts and crafts shopping, flavorful local fare and horse-and-buggy rides. Falmouth is the gateway to the best Jamaica has to offer. Just east of Falmouth is Ocho Rios, known for its spectacular Dunn’s River Falls. Travel west to reach Montego Bay and the beautiful beaches of Negril. Thanks to its central location, Falmouth gives visitors the best tour experiences of the north coast of Jamaica.

Finally, our last stop: Cozumel, Mexico.  The Conquistadors first saw Mexico from the shores of Cozumel while searching for gold. Today, visitors to the island continue to seek out gold and silver jewelry in the shops of San Miguel while having a great time in its many local bars and restaurants. Plus, the waters around Cozumel's sheltered coral reefs make this one of the best snorkeling areas in the world.

Your experience onboard will be nothing short of incredible!

onboard Allure of the SeasWhere to begin? It can be very hard to relax on Allure of the Seas -- even on sea days -- because of the head-spinning array of activities that run from dawn to dusk and beyond! The ship's entertainment staff offers an intriguing blend of options and everyone, from the most traditional passenger to the completely contemporary traveler, will find something to do.

During the day, if you don't want to sew, you'll find plenty of activities, such as bingo, dance lessons, horse racing, art auctions, Mr. Sexy Legs contests, bridge play, and art & craft workshops.

There's also Studio B, featuring ice shows; the five-story broadway-style Opal Theater; Blaze Nightclub; and Dazzles, featuring musical spectacles ranging from big band to disco. Or simply enjoy a leisure stroll throughout the Solarium with its sparkling indoor/outdoor pool and lounge area featuring a retractable roof.

Dining:
the Samba GrilleWith 24 onboard dining venues to cater to any craving, going hungry is not an option. To make your mouth water, here are just a few!

The new Samba Grille, a Brazilian steakhouse, is a signature fine dining destination you simply must try. This restaurant comes to life for dinner service in the Solarium and features authentic Brazilian-style meats and seafood dishes. This is an interactive experience where guests choose from a variety of meats, chicken and seafood brought table-side by servers, ready to slice and serve upon request.

Rita's Cantina is a vibrant new restaurant in the Boardwalk neighborhood featuring favorite Mexican fare such as shrimp ceviche tostadas, as well as entrées such as fajitas and fish tacos. The more casual setting will be a favorite lunch, snack, or dinner spot for guests seeking a flavorful fiesta onboard. Also new to Boardwalk's dynamic and engaging scene will be The Boardwalk Dog House, an outdoor hot-dog specialty counter. Guests can choose from traditional hot dogs, wieners, brats, sausages and other delicious linked meats and a variety of toppings to split a long bun.

Located in the Pool and Sports neighborhood, is the Wipe Out Café, a casual self-service buffet with pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches and fresh salads; Solarium Bistro is a health-conscious dining option for breakfast and lunch; and Izumi Asian Cuisine features a sushi bar.

Favorites among the Central Park neighborhood include: Giovanni's Table, an Italian trattoria with both indoor and alfresco seating featuring Italian classics served family-style; Park Café, an indoor/outdoor gourmet market featuring salads, sandwiches, soups and pastries; and Vintages, a wine bar with pre-dinner tapas and cheeses along with a robust selection of fine wines.

Each stateroom has a private bath, telephone, interactive flat-screen TV, mini-bar, hair dryers and air conditioning/heat controls.
